Pedro León becomes a Madridista!
It was just a formality. Earlier today Real Madrid announced on their official website that:
Real Madrid C. F. has reached a deal with Getafe C. F. for the transfer of Pedro Leon, who will play for Real Madrid over the next six seasons. The midfielder will have his physical on Friday morning and will be officially unveiled at 12:30 CET at the Presidential Balcony of the Santiago Bernabeu.
Pedro Leon, was then subjected to a medical examination at Sanitas undergoing the usual blood and urine tests, electrocardiography, a magnetic resonance, a radiological and biomechanic examination, a clinical exploration of the musculoskeletal system and a cardiorespiratory examination that every player who signs with any club undergoes. Carlos Diez, Head of the Sanitas-Real Madrid Medical Services when asked about the player said:
Pedro Leon is an athlete and he is perfectly balanced from a biomechanical and muscular perspective. He is fit to join the rest of the team. The player is in great shape. It is obvious he took part in four training sessions with his previous team. We spoke to Getafe’s Medical Staff and they sent us all their information on the player. We’ve only done tests we believed we needed to make in order to have a more detailed study. All the results were positive.
He then, bysigning a contract that will keep him at the Club for the next six seasons, officially became Real Madrid’s latest addition. President Florentino Perez, Director General Jorge Valdano and the Club’s Board of Directors were present during the signing and all congratulated and wished the player good luck.
Then came the presentation. Pedro was presented by President Florentino Perez in the Presidential Balcony of the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. The president had a few kind words for the player, saying:
Pedro is here because he’s done everything one can to become a Real Madrid player. We Club Members will never forget this gesture. Real Madrid 2010/11 is underway. This new project will rely on players who respond to the Club’s high demands. An official presentation such as this is a way to receive a new player into this family with open arms. Today we welcome Pedro Leon. We wanted great Spanish players to join us and we believe Pedro to be one of them. He has the necessary quality to join Real Madrid.
And then Pedro himself spoke a few words:
I wish to thank Real Madrid for making my childhood dream come true. I wouldn’t like to disappoint the President, so I will do my very best for this shirt. I also hope to win many titles.
Pedro Leon wore the Real Madrid kit for the first time following his official presentation. Upon entering the first team’s dressing room, he said:
This is the fourth time I’m at this stadium, but it’s my first as a Real Madrid player. I was previously here with Levante, Valladolid and Getafe. This dressing room is large and comfortable. It has everything a player needs. I am thrilled about everything I am experiencing at this magnificent stadium. I will wear this shirt with great pride and humility.
The player then chatted with Agustin Herrerin, who is the stadium’s pitch delegate. He reminded Leon that many other players from Murcia wore the shirt before him, men such as Antonio Ruiz, Macanas, Camacho and Chendo, who made history at the Club. Pedro said:
I wish to follow in their footsteps. I played with Granero at Getafe. We had a great relationship and he’s already talked to me about Real Madrid. I am anxious to train with my new team-mates and to work with Mourinho, whom I regard to be the best coach in the world. I hope to win many titles with this shirt.
Let us hope his wish comes true.
Para Siempre Blanco!
