The Exodus

In the same pace as Real Madrid signed players this season there have been exits over the past week with 4 players leaving Real Madrid. As prominent as the exit of the legendary figures Raul and Guti were the sale of Marcos Alonso and Adam Szalai, two of the brightest players produced by Castilla in the past few years.

Raul ready for 'new era'

Schalke seal Raul deal

Two days after announcing his decision to leave Real Madrid CF, striker Raúl González has joined FC Schalke 04. The 33-year-old signed a two-year contract with the German side who return to the UEFA Champions League group stage this season after finishing second in the Bundesliga last term. Raúl said:

Schalke is a new challenge. The Bundesliga is one of the strongest leagues in Europe. Our aim has to be to fight for the Bundesliga title. It will be difficult in the Champions League but we want to progress from the group stage. It will be an eventful season for Schalke.

As a three-time winner of the competition with Real Madrid, Raúl brings a wealth of experience to Schalke and coach Felix Magath is delighted to have him on board. Magath said.

This is fantastic news for FC Schalke 04. I’m delighted we’ve been able to bring a truly world-class footballer and goalscorer to the Bundesliga and to Schalke.

Guti agrees Turkish switch

Guti has agreed a two-year contract with Turkish side Beşiktaş JK after negotiating his release from the Spanish club.

Beşiktaş, who are managed by Bernd Schuster, have brought in Guti within 24 hours of his departure from the Santiago Bernabéu. Signed by Madrid as a ten-year-old in 1986. Beşiktaş’s new No14 scored 46 goals in 387 Liga games for the Merengues, claiming five Spanish titles and featuring in three UEFA Champions League-winning sides.

Bolton bag Alonso

Bolton have completed the signing of left-back Marcos Alonso for an undisclosed fee. The highly-rated 19-year-old defender joins on a three-year deal despite Real giving Alonso his debut for the first team in April last season, coming on as a substitute for Gonzalo Higuain in the 2-0 victory over Racing Santander.

Bolton manager Owen Coyle spoke of his delight at sealing the transfer, hailing the Spaniard as one to watch in the future. Coyle told the club’s official website:

He is an exciting young player who has undoubted quality and he will bring that into our mix. I think that we have a real talent on our hands. I have said before that when we are investing money in transfers that I want to do it with young, talented players. He isn’t the finished article yet – he’s a young player making his way – but you don’t get through at Real Madrid without having a bit about you.

Mainz tie up Szalai deal

Ádám Szalai has sealed his permanent transfer from Castilla to Mainz. The 22-year-old striker has penned a contract with the German side which runs until June 2013, with Madrid set to receive £500,000. Szalai, formerly of Stuttgart, was on loan at Mainz last season and impressed the club enough to earn a permanent deal. Mainz 05 general manager Christian Heidel told the club’s official website:

We have finally completed all paperwork that was still pending. We are delighted to have captured Ádám permanently as we are convinced of his skills as a player. He has impressed us when he was on loan at our club last season. He will be looking to make further progress.

Last season Szalai played 15 Bundesliga games for the club and will be hoping to make an impact next season.

Leganes 1-1 Real Madrid Castilla

Real Madrid deserved more than just a victory on Sunday at Butarque, where Leganes managed to score the equalizer in injury time. The Whites put on their best performance of the season, but Szalai’s goal on 16′ wasn’t enought to break the streak of five consecutive draws.

Internationals and a little more

Thirteen Madridistas have been called up for international duty this week: Casillas and Ramos (Spain), Marcelo (Brazil), Gago and Heinze (Argentina), Cannavaro (Italy), Pepe (Portugal), Lass (France), Sneijder, Van der Vaart, Robben and Huntelaar (Netherlands), and Adam Szalai (Hungary). Juande Ramos will have to wait until Thursday to have his full squad on hand to begin preparing for Saturday’s clash against Sporting Gijon.

Don't they look like twins?

Faubert and Luccin: Don't they look like twins?

In other news, Beto and Uche, who played alongside Julien Faubert at Girondins, sat down with newspaper AS to discuss the Frenchman’s potential.

Uche:

I was very happy to read that Real Madrid has signed him. He’s the kind of player that all forwards like because they can capitalize off his crosses. I remember that we connected well when playing together because Faubert is fast.

Beto:

He will be very important for Real Madrid and he will triumph there if they allow him to. He’s a good person. He accepted me like he already knew me when I signed for Girondins. Speed is his best asset. He played as a right back or right winger for Girondins, but I don’t know where Juande will position him. He had a couple good seasons with West Ham and now has the chance to do the same here. He just needs a little luck.

Amongst claims that we are playing boring football, Pipita has suggested that it is not the case. He said:

The key thing is that we haven’t conceded any goals and the team continue winning. I don’t think that we are boring. The team have won once again and picked up three points from a difficult game.

The most important thing is that we continue along this line, to win seven successive games isn’t easy. We have to continue like that, to win next Sunday in Gijon, then against Betis in the Bernabeu and wait for the Champions League game.

The tie against Liverpool is a very important game for us, if we win the two games leading up to it we will go into that match with a lot of confidence. What is important now is that we rest and think about the next game. We need to continue along this line and continue working.

Iker Casillas equaled Francisco Buyo’s record of 454 official appearances in goal for Real Madrid in Saturday’s win against Racing. Guillermo G. Honrubia from uefa.com has more to say.

And finally, Real Madrid Foundation President, Vicente Boluda, and President of the Cervantes Association for Cultural Action and Hispanic-Moroccan Friendship in Tangier, Dr. Mohamed El Khattabi, will sign a collaborative agreement on Wednesday 11 February at Souani Stadium to open a Social Integration Sports Academy for 900 boys and girls.

Lass makes the cut

As many of you would have already expected Lassana Diarrà has been opted over Klaas-Jan Huntelaar to play in the knock-out stages of the Champions League. Thanks to Don Mijatovic’s stupidity and lack of presence of mind we signed two players who have already participated in UEFA competition thinking that we could some how talk UEFA out of making one of them sit out of our Champions League fixtures. UEFA ruled our appeal out and when we threatened to file a case in the CAS we were the ones who were talked out of by none other than UEFA themselves. We also recalled Dani Parejo back from his loan spell in England and more recently bought Julien ‘I was shocked’ Faubert on loan from West Ham United. The Hungarian Ádám Szalai would be one among Juande’s striker options along with The Little Rabbit who though rumored to leave us was still named in the squad. Several other Castilla players too have been included in the Player list B.

Real Madrid CF

Real Madrid CF

As far as the selection of Lass is concerned it comes of no surprise to me. He has clearly been the better of the two. He has been used more, infact in every other game since he was permitted to play for Real. I really don’t understand the signing of Julien Faubert. I do not want to make assumptions. I just hope that he is good. I would have definitely been happier if we had signed someone about whom everyone knows and someone who isn’t shocked when spoken to about Real Madrid. I do understand that there weren’t too many options, but when someone like Luis Antonio Valencia rejects an offer to join the squad we have got no other option but to go for players like Faubert. Not that I don’t have any respect for the ex-Bordeaux man but it has really surprised me. Though he has no expectations to live up to I really hope he performs well just to make it a permanent shock, I mean, a permanent move for him.

The Team List:

Goalkeepers: Iker Casillas, Jordi Codina, Jerzy Dudek, Felipe Ramos*, Antonio Adán*;

Defenders: Míchel Salgado, Pepe, Sergio Ramos, Fabio Cannavaro, Marcelo, Royston Drenthe, Gabriel Heinze, Christoph Metzelder, Miguel Torres, David Mateos*, Javier Velayos*, José María Antón*;

Midfielders: Fernando Gago, Wesley Sneijder, Arjen Robben, Guti, Rafael van der Vaart, Javi García, Pedro Mosquera*, Julien Faubert, Lassana Diarrà, Daniel Parejo*;

Forwards: Raúl González, Javier Saviola, Ádám Szalai, Gonzalo Higuaín, Alberto Bueno*, Juan Hernández*;

* – Player list B

Anyhoo, I think this squad is good enough to beat the Merseyside Reds.

Para siempre blanco!!

The Evil Twin Brother of Guillem Balague

There can only be one guy in this whole f*ckin world who could have said this:

Real Madrid endured more whistles from their fans last weekend which suggested that the football they are playing is not what the fans want. The supporters, though, should understand that this current team lacks quality. It’s probably the worst Real Madrid team in a decade or so.

They’ve won the two previous league titles but they were two leagues thrown away by Barcelona and Real Madrid were not building a team for the long run. It was great, obviously, for them to win it, but blame Fabio Capello more than anyone else for what is going on now, I would say.

No prizes for guessing but the answer is pretty simple. Its The Evil Twin Brother of Guillem Balague. No one but him could’ve made such a statement that too on a website which is read by even the average football fan. I say so because Guillem Balague is sensible enough to not make such stupid statements and more times than otherwise his predictions and verdicts are true. But this time I really don’t think so. I found this on the preview that he wrote on SkySports.com for our match against Numancia at Los Pajaritos on Saturday.  I deduced the follwing ten points from the whole shit that he had put up there:

  1. He is a cunt.
  2. He is blind and a cunt.
  3. He is biased thus becoming a cunt.
  4. He does not even realize what he is saying and therefore is a cunt.
  5. He says stuff which don’t make any sense at all like a cunt.
  6. He wants to be a cunt.
  7. He likes to be a cunt.
  8. He prefers being a cunt.
  9. He loves living a cunt’s life.
  10. And pretty obviously he is a cunt.

Is it just me or do the above ten points sound somewhat similar saying nothing but one thing as a whole that being “He is a cunt”?? OK. Jokes apart I seriously think what he says makes no sense at all. I wonder how he could blindly say that we won the title which was thrown away by Barcelona? Is he being sarcastic? I certainly hope so. How many of you really think that we have the weakest squad that we have had in decades? We need to strengthen but it isn’t that weak!

I really wonder why our fans had to boo Drenthe and Marcelo. There must be some solid reason. If they had booed Drenthe because he replaced Raul, before he could get #214, I think that its utter stupidity. It was merely a tactical decision. It was made by Juande Ramos. What will poor Drenthe do? This is despicable. And Marcelo? What did he do? He just opined stating what he really felt. Nothing wrong with that. Why the hell are these people venting ther anger on them? Is it because Barca is fuckin not slowing down? Damn this isn’t the time to do such things. We have got to stay united. We are not having the best of seasons. We all know that. All we can do is stay united, get behind our players and help them in all ways that we can so as for them to perform as well as they can. The whistling and the jeering is not going to help anyone. It will just alleviate the players’ morale.

The Little Rabbit

The Little Rabbit

OK. Moving on, Javier Saviola, Jerzy Dudek, Ibrahim Yattara and Luis Antonio Valencia are the only players linking us and the transfer window. News just is that Portsmouth boss Tony Adams has ruled out a move for Javier Saviola because he wants to sign players with Premier League experience and fitness. But earlier in the day Portsmouth executive chairman Peter Storrie was said to have been still hopeful of landing Saviola, despite conflicting reports from Spain. There were also rumors that suggested that former Liverpool goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek is ready to quit Real. I wouldn’t ask why. Wigan’s Antonio Valencia has spoken of his ambition to play in the UEFA Champions League. Reports continue to link Real with a bid for the Ecuadorian, with speculation suggesting Saviola could be used as part of a swap deal. Alos RealMadrid.DK reports that Real Madrid are in shock talks for Trabzonspor winger Ibrahim Yattara. Marca says Real are discussing a loan deal for the Guinea international, who is available for the Champions League. Real are turning to Yattara after being priced out of a deal for Luis Antonio Valencia. I think that would definitely be the rumor of the day.

As far as the Champions League team is concerned, it looks as though Lass will get the nod ahead of Klaas. Ádám Szalai, as I expected, would be picked as an attacking cover. He has been in tremendous goal scoring touch as compared to The Hunter who is still looking out for his first goal for us.

That should end this post. I’ll be back with more soon. Till then, cut out your whistles. Stop booing our own players.

Hala Madrid!!

Official First Team and Castilla Photo 2008/09

Real Madrid had their official 2008/09 photo taken this morning. The first team was accompanied by Honorary President Alfredo di Stefano and Sporting Director Pedja Mijatovic. It is the first team photo with Lass, Huntelaar, Parejo, and Juande Ramos’ coaching staff.

First Team

First Team

Real Madrid Castilla had their official team photo taken for the second time this season on Thursday. Alfredo di Stefano Stadium hosted the event, which included Real Castilla President, Francisco Moreno Cariñena; President of Honor, Alfredo di Stefano; and Sporting Director, Pedja Mijatovic.

Castilla

Castilla

Real Madrid’s academy is the heart and sould of the Club. Many important players in the history of Spanish football came from the youth system. One third of the current squad is made up by academy men -Raul, Guti, Casillas, Torres, Codina, De la Red, Javi Garcia, Parejo and  Palanca-. This picture, taken a few minutes after they posed for the official team photo, proves it.

youth-system

Real Madrid has always had a youth system and it was professionalized in the 1950s with initiatives such as the Social Tournament. De Felipe was the first of 50 academy players to become internationals for Spain. In total, they have all played 1,000 games for their country.

Spanish national coach Vicente del Bosque also came from Real Madrid’s youth system, just as Isidoro San Jose, Ricardo Gallego, Isidro Díaz or Rafael García Cortés, who currently work for the Club’s academy. But the most illustrious group of players to come from the youth system were those from La Quinta del Buitre. These men had the same values as legends like Ramon Moreno Grosso, Mateos, Velazquez, Santisteban, Benito and Camacho.

José Mª Gutiérrez “Guti” and Miguel Torres belong to different generations of players, but their run at the Club has been very similar. They both joined through the Social Tournament and they have played for every team in the Club. Iker Casillas joined with the Under-8 side and has become one of the most important players in the world. On the other hand, captain Raul joined when he was 15 years old, but his hard work and his devotion to the Club is such that it seems he’s been here all his life.

Jordi Codina, Javi Garcia and Ruben de la Red stood out on every team they played for and were promoted to the Second Division with Castilla. Dani Parejo is a quality player that has won an Under-19 European Championship and was briefly loaned out to Queens Park Rangers before Juande Ramos decided to bring him back to join the first team.

Miguel Palanca is a strange and curious case. He arrived at the Club last summer after growing up at Espanyol, but his devotion to Real Madrid is that of a true youth teamer.
